Dear Heart, Why Him?

Chapter 1

"HEAVENS will win the Triple S competition for opening artist, and then we can finally put STARISH to shame in their place!" Eiichi howled into his mic, a sickening grin plastered confidently onto his face. Otoya looked up at him determinedly, but knew that with his innocence in place, this jerk could practically do anything to him and he wouldn't have enough strength to struggle free. Syo quickly stepped to his side with a quick glance at him in encouragement and support.

"Oh really?" the short-tempered blonde countered, "'Cause from what I've seen so far, you've performed that same song that made you lose to us last time we met, and you've gone back on your word about what nonsense it is to have a group of 7. You really think too highly of yourself to be saying such a thing to everyone here"

"Kurusu, was it?" Eiichi smirked grimly.

"Oh, yeah! This was that runt, I remember now!" Nagi piped up joyfully.

"Nagi, quiet until I say you can talk to these pathetic whatnots"

"But Eiichi, I wanna taunt them with my cuteness!" Syo scoffed as the young HEAVENS member pouted at his group leader.

"You can, but do it later when we have enough patience to give them the time of day"

"Oh my Eiichi, I know we've already been briefly introduced during that little performance, but shouldn't you give us proper ones?" came a voice from one of the four new members of the reformed idol group.

"Sure" Eiichi sighed, clearly annoyed. "Whatever you wish"

"Ohhhh! STARISH should reintroduce themselves too! It seemed like we missed their little introductions from the announcer" Nagi giggled.

Syo growled at the voice of the small pinkette, a fist at his side to try and control his frustration. Otoya looked round to find Tokiya sending one of his death glares at Eiichi. The usually happy redhead went by his friend and looked up at him, worried - Tokiya was known for having a strong hatred for anyone who was a potential threat to Otoya and anyone else from STARISH, and not just in showbiz. Tokiya gave a small growl low in his throat as Masato, Ren and Natsuki took up positions beside Syo. He looked at the concerned redhead and shook his head in a silent plea not to worry about him so much, he was fine, before pulling him into a quick but firm hug. Unfortunately Eiichi caught the action from the corner of his eyes and a scheming plot formed in his head. He went to his new members and pulled one out into the spotlight. Otoya and Tokiya pulled apart once the HEAVENS leader spoke again. "Fine, we'll meet you pathetic bunch of losers backstage while they decide who wins this thing" and with that said, he beckoned his group to follow him off stage. The boy Eiichi had pulled close to him before looked back at STARISH and let his eyes settle on Otoya, a fluttering began in his chest and he knew all too well what the feeling was. Otoya watched them go, feeling the same thing.

Later that night, after STARISH had been announced the winners of the competition, naturally, Otoya went to take a breather from their celebrations indoors and wandered a little before accidentally bumping into someone. He quickly apologised, "Gomen" and looked up to meet the brown-black eyes of the boy from before - Eiji Otori. He was Eiichi's brother, or so they had been told, but the boy himself hadn't said much apart from a bleak hello. Otoya felt his chest fluttering again and swallowed thickly, trying his best to keep himself composed. He hadn't expected to find HEAVENS member out here right now. "Eiji, right?"

"That's right, I'm sorry I walked into you, was lost in my thoughts" Eiji replied.

"L-Lie, it's my fault, gomen. I'm normally clumsy at the worst of times, or so my friends say" he rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly, feeling his face match the colour of his hair and eyes. "Was there something you needed? I-I know we're rivals but I'm always willing to help people if they need it" he offered politely.

"A-Actually, I was looking for you, Ittoki"

"Call me Otoya if you like"

"Hai...arigato" he paused, "Otoya..." he rolled the name on his tongue before nodding to himself. "You...interest me. When I first saw you properly, I knew there was something about you that I needed to...well, it's hard to explain. I had a fluttering in my chest and, I know very well what that meant. I feel you should know before things get too far. My brother has an obvious dislike for STARISH in general, but particularly you. You're STARISH's leader, aren't you?"

Otoya blushed, not being able to help himself. "N-Not exactly...I mean, I guess I tend to be the one to begin our songs and come up with most of our ideas, but I don't really consider myself the leader type. Tokiya's the smartest one, he keeps us all calm, especially me"

"Is he your...lover?"

"What? L-Lie! Tokiya's been my roommate since we met, so he's always been there for me" he smiled. "I felt that fluttering in my chest too when I saw you properly. I'm not entirely sure what it is though"

Eiji swallowed thickly again, a habit of his that his brother found irritating, and gently placed his hands on the redhead's shoulders, leaning in and giving him a soft peck on the corner of his mouth, not wanting to be too bold. "That feeling...it's...Koi..."

Translations:

"Gomen" = Sorry

"Arigato" = Thank You

"Lie" = No

"Koi" = Well, you'll learn next chapter what that one means, can you guess?
