ABSTRACT
Knowledge is the result of know, knowledge important influence on the formation of a person's attitude because knowledge can be a reference for someone to be against something. Knowledge about HIV and AIDS is very important for teenagers because teenagers know tolerate the lifestyle is at risk of HIV and AIDS. This study aims to determine the effect of health education on knowledge and attitudes about HIV and AIDS. This research is a quasi experiment with pretest and posttest one group only design. The population in this study were all students of class X SMA Negeri 3 Kutacane 2015 as many as 145 students and the number of samples of 50 respondents, the sampling technique used was simple random sampling. The instrument used was a questionnaire. Data analysis was done by using a paired t-test. The results showed that there was a significant difference between knowledge and attitudes of students before and after counseling (P = 0.000; P <0.05), which means the knowledge and attitudes of students after counseling was better. So expect to school institutions in order to cooperate with the health authorities in improving the implementation of health education to students, especially on matters related to HIV and AIDS.
